PRIVACY

This website, operated by the Internet Keep Safe Coalition^SM (IKSC^SM) group, in conjunction with the Department of Justice, serves as a gathering place for the most current Internet safety information for families.  IKSC^SM is a broad partnership of governors and/or first spouses, attorneys general, public health and educational professionals, law enforcement, and industry leaders working together for the health and safety of youth online.  iKeepSafe® uses these unique partnerships to disseminate safety resources to families worldwide.

It is our policy at the IKSC^SM organization to protect the privacy of those who visit our website. We do not collect personally identifiable information from children.  We do, however, collect information from parents, such as the parent's name, e-mail addresses, geographical location, phone numbers, and his or her child's gender and age.  We store the information in a database.  We also provide a digital library, which is searchable by topic and children's gender and age.  This enables a parent to go onto the website and search and download internet safety information appropriate for his or her child's age and gender.  The website stores internet safety resources from iKeepSafe and other partner organizations.

Though we are a 501(c)(3) organization and are exempt from compliance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), we nevertheless ensure our collection practices and privacy policies comport, and are in accordance, with COPPA.

At places on the website where we collect a parent's personally identifiable information, a click-through agreement must be read and agreed to stating the parent's information is being collected and stored.  We also ask for their child's gender and age solely for the purpose of directing parents to appropriate internet safety content for their child's age and gender.

As a general policy, iKeepSafe.org^SM website's host does not sell, disclose or provide third parties with any information about visitors to our website.

Incidentally, and as is customary with most websites, our website collects and stores the name of the domain and host from which a visitor accesses the Internet; the Internet protocol (IP) address of the computer the visitor is using to access our website; the browser software the visitor uses and the visitor's operating system; the date and time our website was accessed; and the Internet address of the site from which a visitor linked directly to our site. This information is only used for statistical purposes to determine the number of visitors to different sections within the website, to ensure proper website operation, and for other internal purposes. We do not track personal information about individuals and we delete this information regularly.

Methods of Obtaining Verifiable Parental Consent

1. Since we are intending to use the information gathered solely for internal purposes¹⁰, parental consent can be in the form of email, regular mail or even by telephone.
